Need a bank account but i am in a lot of debt and with a debt managment company!!!?

Hi,

i am in a lot of debt and i have had to go with a debt managment company!! but because i have a loan and overdraft with my current bank which is going to be payed off by the debt managment company, i now have to get a new bank account but can't seem to get one because of my credit scoring.

Can anyone help all i want the bank account for is just to pay my wage into and to pay the debt management company!

Jenny i was in the exact same situation 3 years ago when i joined a debt management company.

These companies know how difficult it is to obtain a new account therefore should be offering you one, the company i joined set up a bank account through the royal bank of scotland for me, and iused that for near on 2 years when after talks with my original bank Lloyds i decided to go back to them, even though i owed them 鎷?400 on an overdraft and 鎷?000 on a loan, they allowed me to open another account with them with restrictions on overdrafts etc obviosuly but possibly try the bank your account is with now - i know these companies say don't do that but as long as you don't miss any payments they should be fine.

Or try the royal bank of scotland, but sit down with somebody from there and explain the situation instead of just applying for a new account, if they know the story sometimes they 'forget' the formailites and help you out

Most banks offer basic bank accounts with no credit facilities.

Best bet is to go into the branches and speak to them face to face.

Have you tried Washington Mutual. Go to www.wamu.com and open their free checking account online.

Call or go to a bank that has free checking and see if they do credit checks and if they don't then you will be able to get an account with them. Trust me I have had the same problem and I was able to get an account

have someone else as the main account holder and you be a secondary. it'll still allow you access to an account and maybe further down the road you can take their name off once you get better established.

Nationwide Flex account can be opened on line.

They won't give a cheque book or a credit card, but you can manage without.

Find out online for free what you credit rating is (not score) from a company like experion (?). Go through all the items that make your rating low and see if you can change them to improve yuor rating. Also check to see your details are correct. Most of these problems stay on your record for 6 years. I think halifax does a basic account for people with credit problems aswell.

what is your general geographic area? I went through the same thing and generally as long as you do not have an account that was negative and reported to collections you should get something. Email me your general geographic area and I can tell you some banks that should work with you

not sure if they're in your area but I love integra bank, if that doesn't work you should try a credit union. They're usually smaller and more willing to work with you. Also you could get a savings account for payroll deposit and then use money orders for your bills as a last ditch effort until you get back on your feet.

I would try at the post office. They give accounts to people who are on benefits, as that's how benefits paid nowadays so I can't see why they wouldn't give one to you.

When my sister was with her husband he had his wages paid into her account as he didn't have one, don't know if it's really allowed though ??

Lloyd's TSB do one I'm not sure what its called but it lets you set up direct debits %26amp; it lets you have a visa electron card!

Assuming that you're in the UK, I would suggest LloydsTSB. I opened an account with them after problems with a previous who I'm still indispute with, and had no problems. I was also able to open an online savings account with them with no hassle either.

try barclays, i was in the same position and they allowed me just a basic cashcard account, which means you get a current account that directdebits can come out of and a cash line card but no debit/swtich card

I was in a similar situation as you, Lloyds TSB will give you an account that only allows you to use their cash machines with a cash only card. You can only withdraw monies you have and you cannot purchase on your card. They will also allow the account to have DD's and SO's...

You do not need a checking account for that purpose. It will be easier to get a savings account, which will work fine for automatic debits and payroll direct deposits.

You will simply want to open the account and get a printout showing your name, address and account number. You will also need to have your personal banker write the routing number for ACH debits so that you can submit that to your credit counselor.
