I must say it is a little intimidating to walk into a bank sit down in front of a loan officer and say %26quot;I need $60k for a business. And no I have no experience.%26quot;

I'm well prepared: I have a business plan, sample advertisements, and I have been in this line of work for three years.

Any advice on what a loan officer REALLY wants to hear would be much appreciated.

Any other advice would be much appreciated, as well as other sources of lending other than a national bank. Thanx!!!

Please watch out for the scammers on this board trying to give you loans.

But back to your original question--if you have a solid business plan, market research, revenue forecasts, etc, you should be pretty good. Basically just make sure you really know your stuff, and make sure to lay it all out on paper. Have an exit strategy, risks, etc as well.

As was stated prior, collateral is necessary as well. You will have to PERSONALLY guarantee the loan, so please be sure you are ready for such a commitment.

Other than that, not much more to offer you. If you have your **** together, present it well, and account for where the $$$ is going, etc, you should be all set.

The loan officer wants to be rest assured you will be able to pay off the loan.....make sure they have all the information they need to verify that this WILL happen.

First ask for less money and wait for about 2 months. After u have waited see how your business is doing. Than later get more money. Getting $60k is a lot of money.

I own a small business, and there isn't a bank on the face of this earth who will loan out money unless you have colaterol, which in your case would be your home. You would have to take a second out on your home. The only way you are ever going to get a small business loan is if you are building a building. That is something tangible that can be taken away if you don't pay the rent.
