Hi, I'm doing some research on tourism in developing countries and wondered what you're views were on establishing a bank for tourism development where loans and financial assistance would be given to individuals and organizations who want to set up tourism businesses. What are the pros and cons. what advise do u have , would it be a good idea?

Most developing countries already have Banks (sometimes run by the Government) that offer loans to new business ...
... the suggestion that a Bank should limit it's loans to those (who claim to be) in the tourist industry is a 'socilist' or 'communist' concept that is unworkable in the real world ...
However it WOULD be a good idea to suggest that Governments put in place laws that encourage tourism ... here's a few ways they could do it :-
Reduce Taxes on those providing to the tourist industry (of course everyone will claim to be in the tourist industry, however at least SOME really will change their focus)
Reduce crime, increase penalties for those caught mugging or ripping off tourists.
Make it easier for Tourists to visit (eg. eliminate any VISA requirements) and spend money (eg. accept Euro's in the shops) and get about (eg. discount cards for public transport)
Improve infrastructure - better roads, better public transport etc.
